Acting Classes at the Rialto

Bold Theatre is starting acting classes for ages 16 and up in September, at the Rialto Community Arts Center in Morrilton, Arkansas — the same stage where our production of A Few Good Men runs this November.

Classes are taught by John J. Pistone, Bold Theatre’s founder and artistic director.

John J. Pistone founded Bold Theatre in 2016 and serves as its artistic director. A Pope County native, he has more than forty years in theatre as an actor, director, producer and playwright.

He most recently wrote and directed the play Hooked: A Neverland Crisis, staged in Russellville in July 2025, and is also the author of the play Shut-Up. On screen he plays Grady Moss in the feature film This Land, and appears in the Netflix series Murderville and the Netflix special Derren Brown: Sacrifice.

As a director he has made the short films Dragon Girl, Philoctetes ’16, For the Greater Good? and The First Date, and directed the series With Friends Like These and Bloodhounds, both of which he also wrote and produced. He created and produced five seasons of the series Mejorando Su Hogar.

He trained at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and spent more than a decade in Los Angeles working full time as an actor, director and producer. Before that he served roughly ten years in the U.S. Navy with Combat Camera, Pacific Fleet, including a deployment to Iraq. He now leads Bold Theatre’s work in Arkansas while projects continue in California.
